Galaxy Diner and Cofer Collection Club Outing

On Saturday, March 5th, the Peach State CLC had a great turnout for our first big weekend of the 2011 spring season. The weather was uncooperative: It rained all day, and got colder as the day wore on. That resulted in only ONE classic Cadillac showing up: Jay Friedman’s ’49. Jay chided us for being such fair weather fans…

On the bright side, we had 23 members and guests show up to the Galaxy Diner in Tucker for a classic diner lunch.  By 12:30 or so we had filled their lot and their dining room to overflowing: Karen and Vince Haaland, Larry and Melodie Reece, Lee and Mary Jean Dunn, Bob and Judy Winchell, new member Mark Nichols (and his parents), Ray Diodati and his daughter (and her boyfriend), Henry Sluss and Barbara Malone, Stan Tucker, Henry Mainwaring (long distance recognition from North Carolina), Martina Butler, Frank Butler (from Chattanooga), Sandy Partridge, Kevin Garrison (from Athens) and Doug Bailey.

We caravanned to Cofer’s at just before 2:00 PM.  That’s tough to do with daily drivers, because you have no idea who’s following and who’s lost! We all made it and were welcomed by the Packard Club’s new president, Robert Kipping. Robert, who is also a PSCLC member, tells me the Packard Club had a great lunch of their own, an acceptable business meeting, then an outstanding auction to benefit the club.  Joining us among the automotive pieces of perfection at the collection were: Henry Dabrowsky, Frank Lindauer, Bill Tilden, Bill Greene, Greg Marshall, Richard Hickok, and Bob Hendershott.

That made us 32 strong, and that’s quite a turnout. Bodes well for the remainder of the Spring events. Thank you all for coming! A challenge for the rest of you: Make it a priority to come with us to the NEXT event of the Peach State CLC! That will probably be the pizza party in Alpharetta on March 19th.
